My dear little, swaddled astronaut,
The word of the day is: Hyperbole. That's what a phrase like "luckiest dad in the world" may sound like.
But see... I live in an age when your mother can wrap you up nice and warm and take you out in the stroller for a walk to a nearby coffeeshop... and at the same time, send me a photo of you while I'm sitting at work.
That wasn't even a possibility for my dad, to be at work and receive a message ON HIS PHONE. Here I am seeing you heading out for a walk with your mom on an April morning almost right as you're doing it.
If you ever read these words, I hope you'll know though that it isn't just about technology. Sure, there's a technology that makes that possible. But you, lucky child you, have a mother who is so happy to be with you, so happy to see your bright shiny face looking up at chirping birds that she's has to share it.
And then I see the photo and it fills me with such joy that I have to share it. That's Love, sweetie. When you share it like this, there's more to go around. It's the Miracle of the Fishes and Loaves....
We know, we actually have scientific evidence that shows, we've got enough food to go around. We could be feeding all of the people who don't have enough to eat in the world... We just need to share more love. (If we could reach critical mass with THIS chain reaction... well, that'd be heaven and that's a whole 'nother story.)
So when your amazing mother feels her own heart skip a beat looking at you and sends a photo like this to me in the middle of a day in which I am feeling anything BUT love (which is not a good way to spend the day), it stops me dead in my tracks and reminds me that I am the luckiest man in the world. And the luckiest husband. So much love.
